IGNITE // Moray Youth Arts Hub // Radio Play
In 1938 a young American actor you may have heard of named Orson Wells caused mass panic among Americans convinced that his radio adaptation of War of the Worlds was a genuine attempted invasion from Mars. The power and prevalence of radio drama may have waned since then but radio and sound drama is still a vibrant and important part of our performance culture.
As many are once again drawn to the possibilities of the red planet Wildbird in partnership with Electrolabs are looking for an enthusiastic group of young people aged 13 and over to make a short sound Drama for local Radio broadcast, podcast, and internet broadcast.
Participants will have the opportunity to get involved in creating, scripting, performing, recording and sound design in this 10 week project beginning on Monday 18th of April at MC3 studios, Elgin 6.30 – 8.30 for eight weeks. Following these sessions the recording will take place over the weekend of the 18th and 19th of June and the completed Drama will be ready for broadcast by the end of June.
The project is funded through the Ignite youth arts hub in partnership with Findhorn Bay Arts and gives youngsters a rare opportunity to work in a niche and oft forgotten dramatic genre that gives unparalleled creative opportunity to go where no one has gone before.
