RCS PODCASTS - IN CONVERSATION WITH

A PROJECT FUNDED BY THE ROYAL CONSERVATOIRE OF SCOTLAND FAIR ACCESS TEAM

People Within the Criminal Justice System

With Graeme Roger & Dave Martin

Working with referrals from Moray Council‘s Criminal Justice Team, this collaborative work explores and reflects on people’s journey through the Criminal Justice System.  This involved working with a cross-section of people from across the Moray region at various stages following their court sentence.

The Podcasts were created in partnership with the Moray Council Criminal Justice Team who were key in supporting individuals in sharing their stories and experiences of being in the criminal justice system and with Community Payback Orders.

The Justice team in Moray were keen to explore and develop a trauma-informed approach to support individuals who had found themselves within the criminal justice system.

Poor mental health and trauma are significant underlying factors for many individuals who find themselves within the criminal justice system.  The podcast project supported a focus not on the offence but an attempt to understand the person behind it in a person-centered approach promoting storytelling and meaning-making.

The resulting conversations were conducted by Graeme Roger and Dave Martin and at times a member of the Criminal Justice team was present to support the people involved. This resource was also created in collaboration with students from the Fair Access programmes.
